More flexible way of defining rules

I use Rules to filter out emails that are coming in. Nowadays, I am sure you
are aware, the senders are getting creative. They not only omit the sender's
email, but also fabricate sender's email address using ":" and other special
characters. It would be quite helpful if I can create a rule that can match
the substring from sender's email address or even containing certain
characters.

If you're trying to use rules to combat spam, fughetaboudit. You should look
into third party antispam stuff - I'm fond of SpamBayes (and it's free).
