When I start my XP system, I notice my monitors work correctly for about 20
seconds (I can see the XP logo), then both screens go black and I can't get
the system to respond. Any ideas? Mr. Computer Idiot.

Does this also happen when you boot up in safe mode? To try this, hit F8
before windows starts loading and a menu will appear.. select safe
mode..and try to boot.

If that works... then your gfx drivers are bust... so remove them from
safe mode, reboot, and reinstall them

sounds like the refresh rate is too high for your monitor.

Boot to safe mode. In display properties, advanced, monitor, set refresh
to 60hz. If that works you can try higher.
