Monitor resolution unavailable in games

I have my desktop set to 1280x1024 resolution. I want this resolution in my
games as well, but in none of them i can select this resolution, I only get
to choose resolutions lower or equal to 1024x768.I have the latest drivers
for my graphics card. I am using the plug and play monitor driver as the
producer of my 17" lcd panel advises.

I would check the settings in the game and see if they conflict with the
settings in the os. Check the packaging of the game to see what the
reccommended resolution is as well as all supported and unsupported
resolutions. I would also check the game developer website for latest
patches and other notes that might refer to this type of problem. You should
also check and post in the user forums for the game. Hope that helps.
