Monitor Problems

I just re-installed my Windows XP Home, after doing everything went smoothly,
but my monitor is displaying icons and desktop items very largely. When I
change the pixels to 1024 x 768 the screen is normal size, but the color is
very bad and distorted. I try to change the properties of the monitor but the
computer tells me that I am using a default monitor. What should be done?

Does the video driver need to be uninstalled before reinstalling? If so,
how would one do that? Step by step if possible. Thanks

Refer to instructions on the videocard mftr.'s website where you got the
drivers.
