Monitor problems after upgrading to Windows 2000 Professional

I work for a non-profit and we receive a lot of donated hardware, so I know
the monitors in question are older models. After upgrading to Windows 2000
Professional, the monitor display will only set to 16 colors. I have tried
re-installing drivers, but with no luck. (not having any information on the
monitor model makes this difficult). Is there a Universal driver that will
correct this problem? Thanks!

Not a monitor issue though you're limited to the extents the monitor can
handle. Check the hardware manufacturer's web site for the latest driver for
your graphics adapter.
