Hi, I am having a problem with my monitor(flat panel hyundai) that is only 5
months old. I was wondering if this is something that I can fix or if it
needs to go back. Faint Images seem to be burning into the screen from web
sites that I visit and also I can see faint images from my desktop shortcut
icons bleeding thru when I am surfing the web. When I turn the monitor off
for awhile they go away, but always come back again after a few minutes. I
checked the monitor on another computer and it still does it. Any info would
be much appreciated. Thanks

Ghosting on some LCD monitors is a known problem. This is not image burn-in
like the old CRT monitors used to do or the Plasma screens will do since the
image will fade away or go away when turned off. You should contact Hyundai
tech support (your monitor should still be in warranty.) Nothing anyone on
this newsgroup says will have a bearing on what can be corrected on your
monitor. Hyundai either will or won't replace the unit or advise a change
that may be made to correct your problem.

You might want to check the Screen Refresh rate and increase it to the
recommended maximum for that monitor.

Right click desktop
click properties
click settings tab
click advanced button

Thank you for the info! At least I now know the correct terminology
(Ghosting) to use when I talk to Hyundai. Thanks again.

You may be right Travel but perhaps a bit more diplomacy would be in
order since most of us come here to simply help out.
Nobody really appreciates being DISSED like you did.

Sorry you felt dissed but if the OP does as you say and selects a refresh
rate too high for the LCD damage may be done and/or the OP may lose the
ability to see anything on the screen. Plus you left out one step. That
would be to go to the Monitor tab to set the refresh rate. I stand by my
original that Hyundai should be the only help in this respect for a computer
under warranty.
