Can't establish Dual monitor Extended display

H

Herb

System:
Windows XP MCE
Sony Vaio RZ56G 3.4GHz
ATI 9600 video card with 1 Digital and 1 Analog output
Sony Flat Panel digital (DVI)display
Hyundai Generic crt display

Problem:

I can enable both monitors, and then I see the same content on each.

View Display properties, select a monitor, enable it, and then the
"Extend My Windows ..." check box should appear ...

BUT I never see that box labeled "Extend My Windows Desktop Onto This
Monitor".

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

If the correct drivers are installed you will see: 1 and 2 under display,
with that option under both.

Thank you -

Your response get me looking to see what drivers were installed etc.,
and in so doing I found that Windows is only seeing one display adapter,
and two are required for the Extended display function (even though it
can recognize two attached monitors).

So now I'm off to ATI to see what their response is. They appear to
have a newer driver available for the Radeon 9600, but its description
doesn't reference this particular area.

You are most welcome, Herb. Note: These drivers are boss hogs so be
careful if you are downloading them from another system. They will over
ride what is already there.(
