Monitor probems

Hello
I just recently reinstalled XP Home and have noticed that the scrolling is
jumpy, certain icons don't appear and open windows move in a jumpy fashion
when
dragged accross the screen.

I've been told I need to update the drivers for my video card which I did
and it didn't help.

Then I was told to update the Monitor drivers, which I tried to do by going
to Display>Settings>Advanced>Monitor>Properties,
but the properties box is faded out/inactive so I can't open it to change
the drivers.

Also under Screen Refresh Rate it simply says: "Use hardware default
setting" so I can't change the refresh rate.

How can I get the properties box to let me access it so I can install new
drivers and change the refresh rate???

Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks
Kris J

Try right clicking My Computer and selecting Manage.
Select Device Manager. On the right, expand Monitor.
Right click, select Properties, click Driver tab, click Update Driver, and
go through the steps to reinstall it as a "Plug and Play" monitor, or use
the drivers you have for your monitor that are XP compatible.

Ok all, and reboot.

Thanks for the input. I tried doing what you said but when I get into Device
Manager, there are no selections on the right for "Monitor". Why is this
being made so difficult?
