Monitor Power On, Screen Black

I'm not sure if this is a driver issue or an issue with my monitor.
This morning when I turned it on it came on for a split second and I
saw the desktop, and then it went black. The power indicator shows
green so it's getting power. I checked the connection to the computer
and made sure that it was connected properly. The odd thing is the
longer I leave the monitor with the power off, it stays on for a
longer bit of time before going black again.

Do you think this is a driver issue, monitor setting issue, or a
problem with the monitor itself.

Thanks!

It reads more like a problem with the graphics card or the power supply.
Start by borrowing another monitor to see what happens. If not the
monitor, try Safe Mode. What happens there?

I hooked up my old dell monitor and it works fine. I don't have any
issues with it at all. So it must be the power supply. I have an NEC
1700v Flat Pannel, I probably got it in 2003. I checked with the
manufacturer and they don't have support for it any longer which means
I can not get a new powersupply. I'll have to look around for a
generic one that is meant for the monitor, or it may be time to get a
new monitor.

Thanks!

Monitor power pack.. Yes, it could be that or some other portion of the
monitor. I don't think it should have gone bad that soon, but it did.
