Hi out there

I would like to transfer the picture (jpeg) on my monitor to my hard
drive .I tried "print screen , but all that seems to do is put it on the
clipboard in some file type that doesn't resolve into a picture . Would
appreciate some advice

Use alt-printscreen to copy to clipboard, then open Paint and paste the
image. Save in your favorite image format.

When you only press the Print Screen button from your keyboard, Window will
copy the entire screen contents to the Clipboard and you will assume that
nothing is happening after that. Actually, you have to paste the clipboard
contents into some program like PaintBrush. After using the Print Screen open
Paint Brush and from Edit menu click Paste. Save the file and choose an
appropriate file type.

Alt+PrintScreen can be use to take a snap of active window instead of entire
screen.
