My battery has recently died, but i can still plug my
computer in to use it. However, earlier today I went to
turn my computer on and I couldn't see anything. So I
fooled around with it and changed the brigtness and
contrast after right clicking, going to properties,
settings and then advanced controls. I have also used
turned the brightness all the way up on my monitor. I
was wondering if anyone knows if this is related to the
battery not working, an option I have or havent' fixe or
if I need to get my monitor fixed. I am using an Hp
pavillion ze1210 laptop computer which I have had for two
years. Thanks in advance for any help.

You did remove the defective battery from the notebook ?

If the battery has an internal short, plugging it into the AC
can cause a number of problems. The battery will attempt
to charge and cause a high current condition.

Remove the battery - use AC power and see if the LCD
works with normal intensity. If not you may have damaged
it. Some notebooks have power saving options that will
kick in when the battery charge drops to a certain % of
total charge. Take could explain the "dim" output.
