Hi,

The hard drive LED indicates that my p2p program, WinMX 3.31, keeps
accessing the hard drive every 14 or 29 seconds, while no transfer (or
any other activity) is underway, until I close WinMX.

Is there a program (Win98 SE) that can help find out which file (or
which part of the hard disk) WinMX is accessing?

WinMX does not access the registry, as Regmon shows nothing.

TIA

Have you tried FileMon? Like Regmon available from www.sysinternals.com

Thanks a lot. I downloaded Filmon and used it to find the problem: WinMX
keeps writing into its configuration file, settings.dat, for unknown
reason. But it's good to know it's not a virus problem.
