My LG Flatscreen monitor goes into power save mode after a couple of minutes
the computer is running. The CPU does not shot down and the control lights
for keyboard and mouse are on but the computer is not responding to either
keyboard nor mouse. What can I do to find out where the problem is burried?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Attach the computer to a different monitor so you can see what is happening.
If the computer runs perfectly, then you know the original monitor has
died. If the computer exhibits the same problems, then you know it has
hardware issues. The video card would be the first suspect, but I can't be
more specific without seeing the machine.

What you describe (I may be wrong) is that your computer is going into sleep
mode but you do not have the keyboard
and mouse set to 'allow this device to bring computer out of sleep mode'. Is
this correct?

Has anyone come up with a decent solution/answer to this yet?
 My situation is basically the same, LG monitor, goes into
power saver mode, comp running but does not respond to mouse or keyboard
(not that one can see much of a response on a black screen), so I end up
having to switch off the power to the computer.

I uninstalled the video card, still did it, tried a different monitor,
still did it.  I only just purchased this computer (a quad core) so new
this year along with the video card (GeForce 9800 GT), so it is not an
age problem.  I am now back on my old computer that I just upgraded from
and finding it rather frustrating

I am guessing I will have to head off to the computer shop, but I
really don't want to be without my computer that long or make the long
trip a few times, so if anyone knows what is going on HELP!  :(

Did you look at what PA Bear said?

This behavior is a Windows configuration thing - you control it, not
your video card, not a different/extra monitor (you know that now).

It is probably all way before that in your Windows settings:

Control Panel | Power Options | Power Schemes | Turn off monitor...

Problem was: faulty power supply.
I'll remember this next time I have a problem - ALSWAYS look at the easiest
solution first!!!!!!
