monitor.exe error when starting windows - HELP!

everytime I start my windows xp, I get the error "monitor.exe has encountered
a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"

Could anyone suggest how to fix this issue, find the file to replace it,
etc? What should I do?
