monitor auto shut off

My monitor is set to automatically shut off after 10 minutes. Sometimes it
works, somtimes it doesn't. Any idea why?

I think it might work better if you have a window opened. But I am not
sure. I haven't seen this work very well on many machines. This Gateway
MX6124 laptop for example, will shutdown and re-awake in a minute. Then
shutdown again in 10 minutes and repeats. So I use an external monitor
and just use the power switch on the monitor. I wish I had some better
ideas for you. :(
