Modifying data in a file linked to excell

I have an access table that is linked to excel. In the access table I am not
able to modify the data. I have previously done this in either the access
file and the excel file and the changes are reflected in the other. How do I
fix this?

If the Excel workbook is a linked Access table, then you cannot modify its
data using the linked "table".

Microsoft recently lost a lawsuit with ?Sun that resulted in a change in how
Access connects to Excel. One consequence of this is that some versions of
Access are no longer able to update Excel data as a linked table. You don't
mention which version of Access you are using...

You got me curious about something. Access and Excel are both Microsoft
products, how does Sun play a role in all of this?

It is access 2002 SP3 and excel 2002 SP3

There was a suit about use of a version of Java, and I'm guessing the
connection between them used it.

Both Access 2002 and Access 2003 were affect by the lawsuit (and the feature
never existed in Access 2007 because of that)
