modems

Hi,
Hope I post this in the right forum....
I've got a creative V92 pci modem that i cannot get to
stay connected to the web for longer than 5 seconds.
It dials out, does the hand shake bit...then cuts of. Does
any one know why. I've also tried with another pci modem
but the same thing happens....could it be the mo/bo...??
Running 2000pro 128 graphic 80GB hard drive
Sorry dont know who made mo/bo although at a guess i would
say chainteck not a clue on the model. but It is new...
Any help would be great

I tried three pci modems with W2K and none worked well. I have a Creative
USB external modem now and it runs like silk.

Have you had this particular modem working before with this computer or is
everything new? I'd suggest checking for the latest Creative drivers and
also checking with your ISP to see what V92 flavor they support. They may
only support V90. I suspect the problem is your modem and your ISP's modem
aren't getting along.
