I have a Dynalink 56k Modem and I have installed is successfully and
connected to the internet and it works fine, but if the computer is turned
off or restarted and the modem is not turned on before hand the modem is not
present in the device manager. If the modem is turned on and in device
manager you scan for hardware changes the modem appears and works fine. The
modem is installed on the COM 2 port. If you go to the phone and modem
options in control panel the modem is installed if you go to the modems tab,
but under the "Attached To" heading is says "not present". Now this issue
can be resolved by simply turning the modem on before the computer has booted
up or scanning for hardware changes once the computer is turned on with the
modem on. I was just wonding if the modem could be made work without having
to do this. The operating System is Windows XP home edition with SP2
Installed.
