Modem Times out after 4-5 mins

I have a US Robotics 56k PCI Voice Modem. I was running
Windows ME and the Modem worked fine, I then reformatted
my hard drive and installed XP. If found all my hardward
installed the drivers on it own and seems to work fine.
Except for the Modem. I can get online, but after about 3
or 4 mins it stops responding. It doesn't disconect me
just of the programes say the website are not responding.
I disconnect and try again. Works for a 3 - 4 Mins then
stops again. The only thing that has changed is the
operating system. I've plugged another computer in to the
same phone line, used the same dial up account and it
works fine. Any ideas would be great.

PS I thought I read something about an update from MS that
caused a problem like this. Any thoughts.

Did you go to usrobotics website and look for xp drivers?
If that doesn't work I'd guess (not knowing what model you
have) your modem is not compatible. Shell out the $5 and
get a new one.
