My sister is always complaining about slow connection on her dial up.Finally
I checked it today and its the pits -14 at best on a Conexant Smart HSF1 V92
pci.
I checked the Telephone line with my laptop and I can get 52bps -so its the
modem
or the drivers.I expect its using Miscrosoft driver so should I try and find
something
on the conexant site. Thanks for any input.

Go to the Device Manager and look at the modem's properties to find out
if the driver is from Microsoft.

You need to know that most HSF modems are usually "controller-less" modem.
These modem require all the modem logic to be stored in Windows and the modem
drives. This can cause a slow connection when there is not a lot of RAM
available for this. How much RAM is installed in your sister's PC?
