Modem problems

I use netzero software to connect to the internet. It was
working fine for the longest time. now when i try to
connect, I get a no-dial tone error. I re-installed my
modem drivers, checked the phone lines, removed net zero
and re-installed, with no effect. I then went and bought a
new modem and it still did not work. So I tried putting
the ATX1 init string in and my new modem started dialing.
Now after it dials all of the numbers in my list it says
connection failure- couldnt connect to any #'s in the
list. Is the init string giving me this error? if I take
it out, How do I get rid of the dial tone error?

Set it to NOT wait for dial tone before dialing is the easiest way to do it.
