modem problem

After restarting my computer, after it has hibernated,
the modem will not detect a dial tone. The modem is still
accessable and I can check its initialization. No
problems are evident. I can not get the modem to detect a
dial tone until I shut down and restart the computer. Any
help would be appriciated.

try this:

go into Control Panel and choose Phone And Modem Options, click on the tab for
Modems and then go into Properties for this modem, under Advanced is a textbox
called Extra Initialization Commands - under here enter the command ATZ and
click OK

This should force a reset on the modem every time it is accessed, hopefully it
will fix your problem
