modem in laptop

in my FSC-Notebook Amilo V2020 is a modem integrated. All time it works very
well but now it didn't work. I uninstall the driver and install it again
with no result. In the systemmanagement/Hardware I can not see a
modem-device. What happend. How can I check the functionality of my modem.

The modem might have failed...
but try running the 'detect new hardware' wizard.

if your modem does not turn up you may want to consider adding an external
modem
