Hi,
I realize there are a lot of things that can go wrong, but this is a new
Dell box, WinXP, and basically upgrades on processor, RAM etc.
My problem is that my modem (56K) which always worked fine with my former
box (also WinXP) now connects fine to my ISP, but more often than not, will
not connect to the Internet (gives me the "cannot find server" page after
20-30 seconds of trying to open the page, homepage or not). Everything about
the system, including the modem (having troubleshot it- but did not update
driver-it is 2-3 years old and came from the prior box) appears to be running
fine, but simply trying to connect to the internet is hit or miss. I've tried
different phone #s from my ISP, and that connection is always quick and
clean, it is when I try to go onto the web that things slow down or dont work
at all. (I have updated McAfee and used Spyware, adware also, no virus
detection). Any suggestions would be most appreciated!
thanks, lee
