Modem Driver

Hi all,,
Oh brother, talk about one foot nailed to the floor and going
round in circles.
I have just installed XP on one of my logical partitions.
Prior to this, I was and still am running win98.
My comp is set-up like this......
Cdrive = win98 O/S
Ddrive = XP o/s
Edrive = playground
I have an external modem with these details....Rockwell::::::puretek:::
1)K56flex
2)Fcc H52pt-3012
3)N136
This modem is active on my win98 and I wish to use it on my newly
loaded XP too.
I spent nearly two hours today, (no, I lie, was more like 3 hours)
looking for the damn driver(s) to make it work.
I thought I would have been able to grab the necessary drivers from
off of win98, but I'm not sure where to aim toward to get them.
In device manager it says they are 'vxd' and it nominates the modem
as being 'puretek'.
Anyway, after hours of surfing Driver sites, I finally thought I had
found the one I want, (driversguide) but when I clicked the d/load
I get a message that because it is a '.rar' file I cant have it.
I already have WinRar as well as Winzip.
Does anyone know where I can get the driver? Or better still, is
there a certain folder on my win98 drive that has what I need? If so,
I could just copy it over to XP and fire it up.
(Unless some of you guru's have an even better idea, sure hope you
have as I really like things kept simple)

thanks for any assist

regards Jane

Why is the XP driver not available from the modem manufacturer's website or
from the computer or motherboard manufacturers' websites?

I asked because I don't know how else you can get a driver and I was
puzzeled as to why you had not gotten at one of those places.

Thanks Bugs,
But I have already "been there, done that".
I am a member there.
When i go to d/load the file, it says I it is a 'compressed win.rar' file
and I need 'special software' to get it.
I already have RAR etc and the site apologises for its inabililty to
give this driver.

help buggsy.......

regards Jane

(like I said, I spent 3 flipping hours on the 'driver seek merry-go-round'
yesterday, surely there is someone who has it or can point
me to a simple download site? pretty please....)
