Modem disconnect during Windows Update

I successfully managed to install Windows XP SP1, and now
every time I try to update Windows, the modem hangs up
right after the scan for updates gets to 100%. When I
reconnect, Update claims no new updates are available--
not even the Swahili language support I have no intention
of installing. Does anyone know why this is happening?
 
CHRIS, Call your ISP.If they,re decent guys they will
tell you how to stop this.
