Modem/Dial-up problem

I have an old IBM Aptiva onto which I've installed XP Pro.

When I activate a dial-up conntection, the modem dial,
goes through the handshaking and connects. Then, the
system hangs.

How do I troubleshoot this problem?

(This behavior is independent of who I'm calling: it's
reproducible trying to dial in to AOL and MSN.)
 
Hi Joe,

Are there any errors listed in event viewer?
Check that the drivers and firmware for the system are current.
Try with a different modem

Let us know how it turns out...
