modem dial-up password

When I put in the password (6 characters)and connect to
the internet all works fine, but if I click to "Save
Password" the next time I go to dial up the password has
changed to one 16 characters long. I've gone to "Internet
Properties" and entered the password and get the same
results. Any ideas?
 
This is normal. When you enter your password XP adds **** to make up 16
characters in total as a security precaution.
Hence the Password once saved is **************** long.
