Modem Causes Phone Interupt

I have a PCI internal US Robotics Fax Modem in my computer.

I'm trying to get this machine to allow me to do the same thing I was able to
with a previous computer that had an internal.

That is hook my phone line into the modem (Outgoing side) and my phone into
the
incoming side ..... bring up the windows dialer, have windows dial a number
and be able pick up my phone hand set (Receiver), and talk with the person
that answers though the phone.

When I try this, regardless of which side I put the line from the wall jack
and the line from the phone, as soon as I use the windows dialer to dial the
number, the
phone goes dead .... I can't hear anything through the telephone hand set.
HOWEVER, I can hear the modem dailing, my parties phone ringing and hear them
saying, "Hello ...... hello or what ever", but I can't talk to them or hear
them through the telephone hand set.

I have never had a dial up connection configured in this PC. It doesn't
appear there is any thing weird about the modem properties of configuration.

I have a fairly large data base of clients and I am getting tired of
stubbing my finger and mis-dialing numbers when if I could use the dialer and
hold a conversation, the number would always be dialed correctly.

I hope I have made this question/problem clear enough.

Thanks in advance,

US Robotics Modems don't support this configuration. You can make regular
phone calls while the modem is not in use, or to make Internet phone calls
with the Net2PhoneSM software that is part of your modem software
installation.
If you wish to use the speakerphone option, plug your microphone and powered
speakers into the appropriate modem’s jacks.
