MMC failed to initialize

when I try to defrag using XP home version 2002 I get a Microsoft Management
Console window pop up with the following message. MMC failed to initialize
because it was installed incorrectly or because a portion of the registry has
become corrupted. Make sure the file Mmcndmgr.dll is registered by running
"regsvr32%SystemRoot%\system32\mmcndmgr.dll" How do I do this? I badly need
to defrag my system.

Type this command from Start/Run:

regsvr32.exe %SystemRoot%\system32\mmcndmgr.dll

If the command is successful, you'll see this dialog:
---------------------------
RegSvr32
---------------------------
DllRegisterServer in C:\WINDOWS\system32\mmcndmgr.dll succeeded.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

BTW, you can also use the Command-line Defrag tool. Type Defrag /? in Command Prompt.

defrag c:
-or-
defrag c: -f
