MMC.EXE problem

After Installing Hungry Dog Intellibworser Olap Client my machine's (Win XP
SP1) MMC.EXE for some reason is not able to open snap-in files, since it
says the .msc files were created with a "newer" version of MMC. (or that I
do not have permissions or there's no such snap-in... snap-in do exists and
were working fine before. As I'm the Administrator of teh XP machine,
shouldn't be a permission problem either). The point is I lost control over
mi machine, since every administration tool is based on Microsoft management
Console or MMC.EXE

Before this, I never had the problem before.

My first step was to go to windows update to see if MMC.EXE could be updated
in some way, but Windows Update does not work either. I know is not a
Firewall restriction, since other machines can use the service. When I try
do use Windows Update, i get an error in hexadecil numbers and Microsoft
does not grant reply if you ask support about this ???

I can not afford at this moment to format my notebook and reinstall
everything from scratch since I need to give a presentation tomorrow using
SQL 2000 and SQL Analysis Services and I can not afford the risk at this
moment.

Thank you for your help.

Sounds like a classic case of 'use system restore to get back to before
you installed this 'Hungry Dog' cr&pware'? If that doesn't work, and you
have a real WinXP CD, then a repair install maybe??
