when I attempt to defragment, I get the error MMC.exe has
generated errors and will be closed, a error log will be
created. ANY ideas on how to fix this without reloading
windows 2000
Thanks Chris

I get the same error when attempting to analyze or defrag
the boot partition C. First, however, I get an error
message that says "The instruction at"ox77fcc453"
referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not
be "written"." This is a defrgfat.exe error message. The
defrag program says that the engine connection was lost.
On the secondary partition on the same drive, defrag works
just fine!

Any help would be appreciated. I have run a chkdsk with no
errors found.

Thanks,

George
