MM2 doesn't have audio when playback

The clips imported to MM2 playback provide only the audio track -- no video.
The clips play fine in other applications such as Windows Media Player. This
happens with clips from various sources. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
 
What are the file types? As this often happens when using files like Mpegs.
MM is best using avi files.
