mixer devices

i have a laptop and all my devices were preinstalled. they played before but
now i get a message saying no mixer devices installed go to controll panel,
go to printer and other hardware and then add hardware, but i dont have any
hardware to add. i dont know what to do to solve this problem.

What did you do before it all stopped working ? What did you install ?
