Misspelled Registration Name

A

Avery

My new notebook came in and someone at corporate wanted
to do me a "favor" and configure the thing for me. I have
spent the morning fixing everything else and I have just
found the misspelled name (shown under registered to). It
is not shonw in User accounts. The name in User accounts
is spelled correctly. It is when I launch a command line
environment that the misspelled name pops up. It is
irritating but not a real problem. Any ideas on how to
fix? I am guessing it is a Registry problem/fix.

Greetings --

To fix the "Registered to" information for WinNT/2K/XP, you can
use Start > Run > Regedit.exe to edit:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\RegisteredOwner

and:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current
Version\RegisteredOrganization
