I've run into a strange issue with shortcuts in the
Start/Programs menu.
For example, the user has a Lotus Notes program group and
tries to launch Lotus Notes (mapped to a network drive)
from there while not connected to the network they get a
message ""G:\NOTES\W32INTEL\NOTES.EXE
Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file.
You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the
item""
I would expect this type of error as they are not
connected to the network. When they close this error
(they can't remember if there was a Yes/No prompt or an OK
button) the Lotus Notes shortcut disappears from the
Start/Programs/Lotus program group.
What would cause this to happen? Are they getting a
prompt asking if they want to delete the shortcut and they
are just clicking Yes? The last user I talked to about
this denies getting any message asking if they wanted to
delete. Is there anything else that would cause these
shortcuts to disappear?
Thanks in advance for any help or information you can
provide.
