Missing Send/Receive Button Outlook 2003

My Send/Receive button has disappeared from the Toolbar in Outlook 2003. The
Send button is also missing when I click on New Mail. I have email accounts
setup correctly. I have tried deleting them and putting them back in but
still no button. I have defined a different PST, but still no joy. I have
renamed the outcmd.dat file, no result. I have run the repair and also
finally re-installed Outlook. Intrestinly the Send/Receive button appears
very breifly when you start Outlook then disappears.

Any suggestions please. Many thanks.

About the only thing you have left to try is a new mail profile. Create one
in Control Panel's Mail applet and point it at your existing PST.

Brian,

Created a new profile, defined my email account and there it was,
Send/Receive !! All my email came through. Thought this was going to be a
real headache today. Would still like to know what caused this. Can't thank
you enough. All the best to you.

Regards

Jason.

This same problem happened to me. I tried what Brian suggested but did not
get the Send/Receive button after a new profile was created. However, when I
go to Tools; Options; Mail Setup (Tab); Send/Receive (Button), the
Send/Receive Groups window pops up. When I try to click Edit..., the button
will not initiate. Does anyone know what might've caused this?

Dave,

You may want to try running a detect and repair (found on the help menu) and
choose to have all default settings applied.

Kind Regards,

I seem to have a variation of this same problem in that the Send/Receive button remains present on the general toolbar, but disappears when the New Msg, Reply, or Forward message windows are opened making it impossible to send. I've tried troubleshooting my email address (which I've had for years) and it's working fine. I'm having trouble understanding the process of ...
"About the only thing you have left to try is a new mail profile. Create one

open Control Panel I can't find any reference to "mail profile."?

I've solved my problem as described at the bottom of page. It seems my
Toolbar was hidden and by trial and error it re-appeared. I'm not sure what
buttons I pushed or in what order I pushed them, but everything works!

I, too, had this problem with Outlook 2000; the Send/Receive button was
nowhere to be found. I took Brian Tillman's advice and it worked.

I went to Control Panel and selected Mail and discovered there was no
account at all. I selected "Add" to create an account, entered the
appropriate information and viola, the problem was immediately solved.

Sort of makes sense, doesn't it? Outlook can't send or receive anything
without knowing where to send it to or receive it from so it does not let you
try until you've told it the source/destination for sending/receiving.
