Missing saved file

I made corrections to an existing document and when I went to open it, it was
a blank worksheet, although properties showed it had 15 bytes?

Maybe you just saved to a different folder. IIRC, in xl97, file|Saveas would go
back to your default folder. (In xl2k+, if you do a file|saveAs, it tries to
save to the same folder that holds the existing workbook.

If you don't find it there, you could try:
windows start button|documents
(to see if showed up in the list of most recently used documents in Windows)

or inside excel:
file|open
and see if it's at the bottom of that list.

Does xl97 have a History option in the File|Open dialog--I don't recall.

And you could search for all the workbooks with a certain word in the name (if
you remember what you named it)--or even search for all the *.xls updated in
last x days.

Windows start button|find or Search.

Good luck,

ps. When I lose files, it's always been my fault--in a folder I didn't think I
was in!
