missing registy for cd-rom

I ran McAfee anti-virus and deleted the list or threats.the next day after
turning on the computer.my cd-rom and cd-rw wouldn't work.It says windows
could not start this hardware because of(in the registry)incomplete or
damaged file.How do I fix it.I can't use the cd's to repair it.

Sometimes removing a virus or spyware can damage your system. Viruses and
spyware can be that difficult to remove.

It's also possible that what McAfee found has nothing to do with your CD
drive problem, which is caused by something else entirely.

Post the exact wording of the error message you see, and tell us exactly
what you are doing when you see the message. That's the beginning of
diagnosing the problem.

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration
information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
This is exactly what is displayed at the devive manager.I scan with spyware
doctor the McAfee then deleted what was found .i had to restart then the
hardware wouldn"t work.

Sounds like an Upper and Lower Filters issuse, the following KB article
should help you resolve this.

CD-ROM access is missing and messages cite error Code 31, Code 32, Code 19,
Code 39, or Code 41 after you remove Easy CD Creator in Windows XP
