I am using windows XP pro on a T40 Thinkpad.
Windows will boot and I can log in but the explorer shell will not load.
If I try to run any programs (using task manager) I get a file association
error.
Examining the registry I see that I am missing many keys under
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.
I try to manually add I key I get an error writing to registry
If I try and change permissions to individual keys I get an error.
I can not run sfc or pretty much any programs. The only way i can get
regedit to run is via safe mode command prompt.
I am stuck, I need to be able to recover my registry without reloading the
OS. Moreover I can not seem to boot to a regular CD.
Help!?!?!
