Missing Outlook Contacts

I am missing at category called "Important" and all the contacts
belonging to that.

My number of categories is 15 now, and I wonder if it was
deleted in the latest synchronization with my Palm Pilot,
which only allows 15 categories.

Only you could know or find out. It's not an Outlook issue. I trust you keep
good backups of your data since you run syncs against it.
