Missing or Corrupt Autoexec.nt file

OK. Briefly....certain software I try to load generates an error "16 bit
Windows Subsystem"...The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and
Microsoft Windows applications. Choose close to terminate the application.
There seemed to be a fix on MS site, but I have tried it several times to no
avail. I even tried to copy the files from the OS disk into the system32
folder, but it still doesn't work. Could anyone pleeeeeeeeeease tell me what
I am doing wrong?
