I have received this message while trying to install my digital photo printer
from the 16 bit Subsystem Window:
C:WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/AUTOEXEC.NT. This system file is not suitable for
running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows files.

I too am having this same exact error. Though I am trying to install a new
program. The program is supposed to work with windows XP, is there some sort
of compatability issue? Please any hekp would be appreciated

I also have this problem but I did not install anything except windows xp
update. when I tried to click onto 2 icons on my desktop for programs which
worked without a problem a few days ago, I got that message and now they will
not work at all.

I would also point out that my system32 folder has disappeared completely..not hidden

copy autoexec.nt from c:\windows\repair then paste it to
c:\windows\system32.
