Missing NIC in Network Dialup Connections under W2K server

Oddly our NIC with TCP/IP settings and ability to change
its properties is impossible. The NIC has unexplainably
become invisible under My Network Places (Properies) when
you go to Network and Dial-Up connections.

It's still present in the Hardware Devices, the server has
been running for over a year without my doing any NIC
management. That is until we wanted to change an IP
setting today and heck, the darn thing is gone, invisible.

Does anyone know other than removing the NIC or re-
installing drivers will fix it, some other solution.
Dilema is that it's on an Exchange 2000 server and
concerned that doing so will affect Exchange.

Anyone have any ideas on this invisible NIC in Win2k issue?
