Hi Donna,
Give this a try:
Go to Start>Run and key in gpedit.msc then click on OK or hit ENTER. In the
Group Policy window, under User Configuration in left-hand pane,
double-click on Administrative Templates if not already expanded to show the
items beneath. Now click on Start Menu and Taskbar, and in the right-hand
pane scroll to locate "Remove and disable the Turn Off Computer" button",
right-click on this item and select Properties. Under the Setting tab, click
in the radio button beside either "Not Configured" or "Disabled" and click
on Apply then OK. Close the Group Policy window. If the Turn Off Computer
button is not now automatically displayed in the Start Menu and you are
using the WINXP Start Menu option, right-click in the blue title bar where
it displays the Username, select Properties then just click on OK.....see if
the Turn Off Computer button is now displayed.

Sometime recently the "turn off computer" button disappeared from my Start
Menu in Win XP Pro. Have to go through the "Log Off" button to be able to
shut down the computer. I'd like my button back. I've searched all over
the microsoft site for an answer, tried google, etc. I can't be the only
person in the world who's lost this button but it seems like it at this
point. Somebody PLEASE help me restore this thing!
