Missing msconfig file

I am missing msconfig files on two of my computers - thus
i cannot change the startup programs that are running -
can this file be restored? Is it possible i have a virus
on both computers that deleted or hid this file?

If you know the file names, you can search the windows cd and copy them onto
the hard drive if you can select the directory to tell the computer where
the file is.
