Missing menu cmd "File | New | Compressed (zipped) Folder"

I have win xp pro but when I am in windows explorer and try to create a
"Compressed (zipped) folder" using File | New ... there is no such option.

Have you installed Winzip or some other ZIP file handler? Win XP's
native ZIP handling disables itself if some other handler is
registered.
 
Yes I have WinZip installed.

So there is no "compress (zipped) folder" option? Hm ... I was hoping to
create such a folder and then associate a password with it. Now I guess I'll
have to use WinZip's encryption that works on a per file basis. I'd hoped to
associate a single password with the entire folder.

Thanks ... I saw it was only a zip file. Too bad installing another zip
technology disables the "compressed (zipped) folder". It appears to have some
nice features.

If I had WinZip but uninstalled it, is there no way to reinstate the XP
"Compressed (zipped) Folder" menu option?
 
Select Run from the Start Menu:

Type or Paste: regsvr32 cabview.dll at the prompt and click OK.
and
Type or Paste: regsvr32 zipfldr.dll at the prompt and click OK.

The change will take effect immediately, but you may have to restart Windows
for all features of the built-in ZIP support to be available.

If Send To Compressed (zipped) Folder is still missing from the Send To
menu.

Copy: Compressed (zipped) Folder from C:\Documents and
Settings\Administrator\SendTo
or
from C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\SendTo
or
from C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\SendTo
or
from a friend's machine.

Paste it into...

%userprofile%\SendTo
or
C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name Here\SendTo
