I have a Logitech keyboard and mouse. I also had a Kensington trackball
connected for gaming. I was having a problem reinstalling an old game and
found out that the Kensington drivers could be the problem. When I
uninstalled the drivers and rebooted, W2K wouldn't start because it
couldn't load one of the trackball drivers.
I have an old hard drive with W2K on it, so I booted from that. I did a
chkdsk and there was a ton of bad kensington files, maybe truncated.
I was able to repair my new W2K installation, but my mouse and keyboard
don't work. I tried plugging in a USB mouse and W2K found it and installed
drivers, but I still don't have a cursor.

Before I install W2K again on my new drive ( just installed it last week),
are there any files I can copy from my old HD to the new one to try to get
it going? I've tried using my old system32\drivers files, but that didn't
work. When I repair the W2K installation, a lot of files are copied, but I
still don't have mouse and keyboard. I'd rather not have to install W2K and
load all my files again.

try running SFC.exe from the command line if you can boot into that installation

I'll give it a try when I get home. I can boot into safe mode (but still no
keyboard or mouse) so I should be able to boot into command prompt.

No luck. No keyboard to type the command.
Looks like I'll be doing a fresh installation. Maybe I'll try some acts of
desperation first to see if I can get it to load new drivers. I've got
nothing to lose.
