Missing jpeg Icon

T

Tom M.

I am still having a problem restoring my jpeg Icon. I tried to edit the
registry according to article http://windowsxp.mvps.org/jpgicon.htm. Doing
this restored many of the missing Icons,. but not the jpeg.
Any other help would be most welcome!! Also since changing the registry did
not work is there any way to return the icon file to it's original default
setting?
Thanks

Hi Tom,

Open Regedit and navigate to:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpeg
-and-
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpg

Note down the value of (default) in the right-pane, and post here.

BTW, the original value for the (default) in the following key is "shimgvw.dll,3"

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile\DefaultIcon

Tom,

"shimgvw.dll,3" is the correct value

The following icon is apt for .RTF files:
%SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll,1
