Missing Icons on Desktop and Explorer.exe not running in Task Mgr

Hello,
Our complete desktop Icons and Taskbar are both missing. I have two
logins and they both have the same results. I can get to the programs
through TaskManager. I had some trouble
with a trojan virus and lots of spyware. I've tried the
fix on kelly's site...did not work. Explorer.exe is not running in
task manager.
When I ran the fix, it does not start explorer.exe. When I run a New
task from task manager as explorer.exe, I get a pop up that says that
Explorer has problems and has to close. Still no icons. Can anyone
shed some light on this for me? I would appreciate it greatly.

Either your computer is still not completely clean or system files were
damaged by the viruses and malware you had. First make sure your
computer is really clean:

If you are sure the computer is completely virus/malware free, try
running the System File Checker. Do:

Start>Run>sfc /scannow [enter]
and have your XP cd handy as you may need it.

If that doesn't work, depending on what malware you had, you may need to
do a Repair Install.
